Does OCR upload my files or use a daily try?
OCR runs in Web Workers on your device, free and unlimited. No file upload, Turnstile challenge, signup or daily quota applies. Only selected language packs and the OCR engine download from this website.
Which languages and exports are supported?
English, Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Hindi, Bengali, French, Spanish, German, simplified/traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Turkish and Russian. Combine up to five languages, use per-page hints, correct the text, then export searchable PDF, TXT, Markdown, JSON with word boxes/confidence or basic DOCX.
Will OCR change how my scanned pages look?
Searchable PDF adds an invisible glyphless text layer while preserving the visible scan. Rotation, deskew, contrast/noise cleanup and optional upscaling affect recognition only. Existing searchable text is preserved without duplication and is read-only in the editor. Handwriting and advanced table reconstruction are not supported; always review recognition errors.
Can OCR work offline, and can I remove language downloads?
Language packs show their size before downloading and load only when selected. Run OCR online once to cache the selected packs and engine for offline use. Use Clear OCR language cache to remove them. Save all browser tools on the install page for every export format offline. The language cache never contains documents or recognized text. Optional Recent files storage is separate and off by default.
Can I use OCR PDF now?
OCR PDF is available now, free and without signup. Processing happens entirely on your device.
Where will OCR PDF process my files?
Files are read, processed and rendered in browser Web Workers. Nothing is uploaded. Cancel stops the worker immediately; originals remain unchanged.
