What should I know about the output?
Encrypt opening your PDF with AES-256. Reader permissions control printing, copying and editing where supported; they are not a substitute for the password. The password stays in this tab's memory. A one-time 2.3 MB local engine download is required.
Can I use Protect PDF now?
Protect PDF is available now, free and without signup. Processing happens entirely on your device.
Where will Protect PDF process my files?
Files are read, processed and rendered in browser Web Workers. Nothing is uploaded. Cancel stops the worker immediately; originals remain unchanged.
Will Protect PDF be free?
Yes. Unlimited free uses, without signup or a daily quota. Choose up to 3 input files and 120 MB total, with 2,000 pages per job. Rendered images are limited to 32 megapixels. Smaller batches help on devices with less memory.
